NEW DELHI — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Indian wushu ace Naorem Roshibina Devi for winning the Silver Medal in the Women’s Sanda 60kg event at the Asian Games, commending her exceptional discipline and sustained podium excellence on the international stage.
In an official message released via the Prime Minister’s Office handle on social media platform X, the Prime Minister lauded her perseverance and noted that securing medals across three consecutive Asian Games editions represents a rare and distinguished athletic milestone.

Hailing from Kwasiphai village in Bishnupur district, Manipur, Roshibina Devi has emerged as one of the most decorated combat sports athletes in Indian history. Her silver in the 60kg category cements a remarkable streak across three successive editions of the continental tournament, having previously claimed bronze at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games and silver at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Conferred with the prestigious Arjuna Award by President Droupadi Murmu in 2024, Roshibina Devi’s disciplined striking and defensive grappling in the Sanda discipline have drawn widespread admiration from across the sporting fraternity.
